MMO anodes coated with a layer of RuO2 or IrO2 on titanium substrate can be used efficiently for organics degradation by indirect electrolysis by in situ generations of active chlorine through the oxidation of chloride ions present in the solution. These coated titanium electrodes (IrO2 and IrO2–RuO2) gave higher current efficiencies during electrochemical chlorine production than platinum anodes and other anodes.
