Water heater anode rods protect water heaters through the process of electrolysis where a sacrificial anode is depleted to prevent corrosion of exposed steel in the water heater. When this anode rod has been completely depleted, it no longer protects your water heater from rust and corrosion and you have to replace it. Generally every 2 or 3 years, it needs to be replaced. A powered anode rod has work for over 10 years no need for replacement by contrary. UTron had provided iridium tantalum mixed oxide powered anode rod for the water heater to the clients from Finland.
